Shaw Missions Fund

In 2001, Trinity charter members Hugh and Maude Shaw offered to set up a fund to help church members experience missions participation. The Shaw’s missionary spirit was very strong, but their physical condition was such that they could no longer participate personally in mission efforts here at TBC. So they decided the best thing they could do was to enable those who could physically go.

The Shaw Missions Fund was established with an original donation from them. It was set up as a permanent designated line item in the TBC Budget so that others could contribute to it as well.

As of 2012, $277,230 had been donated to the Shaw Missions Fund and $230,053 had been used for missions materials and trip assistance.

Almost all of the mission efforts described in this brochure have benefited from this fund over the years.

In addition to providing building and VBS materials, 73 TBC members have received partial scholarships totaling $50,741 from the fund to help with expenses to respond to God’s call and go on a mission trip. Donations can be made directly to the Fund simply by making a check out to “TBC” and noting that it is for the “Shaw Missions Fund.” You can also support the Fund through the “State Missions Offering” collected each Fall. The Shaw Missions Fund receives a percentage of that offering.

Annual Church Budget

The Missions Steering Committee requests a budget each year that funds a major portion of our missions programming. These funds help support most of the missions included in this brochure.

Christmas World Missions Offering

Each December, Trinity participates in collecting a special offering for Southern Baptist and Cooperative Baptist mission efforts around the world. These donated funds go directly to supporting the families and work of career missionaries commissioned by these organizations.

Mission Trip Fees

Each participant in Mission Trips away from Wake County pay a fee that defrays most of the expenses of the trip (air fare, lodging, meals, ground transportation, insurance, t-shirt, etc.)

Spring Home Missions Offering

Each spring Trinity participates in collecting a special offering for Southern Baptist and Cooperative Baptist mission efforts in the United States. These donated funds go directly to supporting the families and work of career missionaries commissioned by these organizations.

Lord’s Supper Love Offering: Benefiting North Raleigh Ministries

Each time we celebrate the Lord’s Supper as a part of worship here at TBC, the opportunity is given for persons to contribute to a “love offering” as they depart the service. This offering goes directly to the Benevolence Assistance Fund of NRM to help our neighbors in need.

North Hills 5k Run/Walk: Benefiting North Raleigh Ministries

The TBC Recreation Committee recruits a Lead Team to plan and conduct this one day event drawing participants from our church as well as the community and beyond. All proceeds (after expenses are covered) go to the missions of NRM, such as BackPack Buddies, Benevolence Assistance to neighbors in need, the Food Pantry, etc.

ROC’n Golf Tournament: Benefiting The Shaw Missions Fund

The TBC Recreation Committee recruits a Lead Team to plan and conduct this one day event drawing participants from our church as well as the community. All proceeds (after expenses are covered) go to the TBC Shaw Missions Fund to financially assist persons who feel called to participate in a Mission Trip.

Fall State Missions Offering

Each September Trinity participates in collecting a special offering for NC Mission causes through the Baptist State Convention of NC and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of NC. A portion also goes into Trinity’s Shaw Missions Fund – enabling Trinity members to participate in a missions effort away from home that they would not otherwise be able to afford, as well as purchasing building materials and VBS supplies for those mission experiences.
