Missions

Joining hands with God to serve others near and far.

“Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whole shall I send? And who will go for us?’ and I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!” -Isaiah 6:8

Joining Hands With God

Trinity Baptist joins hands with God by supporting career missionaries through the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship, the North American Missions Board, the International Missions Board, and North Carolina Baptists on Mission and by doing missions as a congregation with various partners responding to God’s call.

We believe that sharing in the Good News (gospel) of the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ is the responsibility and privilege of every member. Evangelism and missions encompass reaching out to the whole person – spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally. We cooperate with other Christians in taking the gospel to our homes, our community, and wherever God leads.

Isaiah 6:1-8; Matthew 28-19-20; & Acts 1:8

Our Mission Philosophy

We believe that sharing the Good News of Jesus is the responsibility and joy of every believer-locally nationally, and globally. Evangelism and missions reach the whole person: spiritually, physically, mentally, and emotionally.

Mission Opportunities

Below is a collection of the currently active mission projects recognized by our Missions Steering Committee. Please click on any of the missions below to learn more about the mission and Trinity.

Disaster Relief & Recovery

Disaster Relief

Disaster Relief is done immediately – removing trees and debris from dwellings, placing tarps on leaking roofs, tearing out wet carpet/flooring, cabinets, sheetrock, and removing ruined personal belongings and furniture. Other volunteers also provide childcare, cook meals, deliver water, wash and dry clothing, and provide medical assistance. During this phase, much is done to listen to the stories of victims, assure them of God’s presence with them “through the storms of life,” pray with them, and when open, sharing a witness to the good news of Jesus Christ.

Trinity has been involved in this Relief mission in Tarboro, Grifton, Canton, Atlantic, Edenton, High Point, and Raleigh (all in NC), Melbourne, FL; Mobile, AL; Bayou La Batre, AL; Metarie, LA, and Gulfport, MS (120 different volunteers over 2 years after Hurricane Katrina).

Disaster Recovery

Disaster Recovery continues long after Relief has finished, to help families rebuild their homes and lives. Teams of volunteers (both skilled and unskilled) provide materials, labor, and hope. After Hurricane Katrina, Trinity (and thousands of other NC Baptists) committed teams of workers for two years following the storm to help the residents of Gulfport, MS get back on their feet. Trinity has also been involved in this Recovery mission in Atlantic, NC.

NC Baptist on Mission offers annual training in Disaster Relief/Recovery all across our state. Trinity has over 50 trained volunteers thus far in Recovery, Mass-Feeding, Childcare, and Chaplaincy, with several trained Crew Chiefs. The church has also purchased and uniquely outfitted two Disaster Relief Trailers – one for Relief/tear out, and one for Recovery/rebuild. These are maintained and ready to roll by a Trinity Disaster Relief Lead Team.

McCreary County Kentucky Partnership

Launched in 2001, “Together for Hope” (TFH), the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship’s “Rural Poverty Initiative,” is a long-term commitment to work with people in the nation’s 20 poorest counties to affect change and break the cycle of economic disparity. The ministry is about establishing long-term relationships, listening, learning, and walking alongside local leaders. The hope is that communities will be transformed as will the churches and individuals who live in these 20 counties.

Trinity has committed to serving in McCreary County, KY, the closest of the 20 counties to Raleigh.

Our newest partnership in McCreary County connects our missions teams with the ministry of the Kentucky Baptist Convention, Crossroads Community Church, and the ministries of Grant and Gina Hasty.  Through this partnership Trinity supports The Light Community, a tiny house community providing care and support to those in recovery, and The Lord’s Cafe, a ministry that feeds body and soul.

Trinity’s National Mission Team plans several trips to support these wonderful missionaries, ministers, and ministries throughout the year.

Through the Mission’s Child Development Center special emphasis is placed on their kids’ education and ability to thrive as adults. The Mission is locally owned and managed and is solely funded through private donations.

Serving at the Mission has for years provided Trinity members with an opportunity to combine outreach, fellowship and fun. Our presence there alone serves as needed encouragement for both residents and staff.

North Raleigh Ministries

North Raleigh Ministries (NRM) serves our community by providing practical help for neighbors facing financial hardship or food insecurity. Through rental and utility bill assistance, a Client Choice Food Market, and programs like Backpack Buddies, NRM offers Christ-centered care to families across North Raleigh.

Building Homes, Building Faith: Stories from Our Kentucky Team

Building Homes, Building Faith: Stories from Our Kentucky Team

Our Kentucky Construction Team is hard at work in the Light Community — installing wiring, finishing plumbing, and preparing homes for families. But the real story goes beyond sawdust and blueprints. Along the way, God is building relationships, opening doors for ministry, and reminding us that this mission is about more than houses, it’s about hope.
