We are excited to share with you that our Personnel Committee has recommended that we call Dr. Andy Jung to a part-time position on our church staff. Andy served our church as Associate Pastor for Students from 2003 to 2014. Since then, he has served as Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Albemarle, N.C., and the Associate Executive Director of the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina. In 2020, Andy was invited to become a part of the Fuller Youth Institute of Fuller Seminary in Pasadena, California. This position was a culmination of his work on church staff, a pastor and working with denominations. Andy’s doctoral work at Fuller Seminary focused on ministry to Youth, Family and Culture. In his role with Fuller Youth Institute, Andy spends his time in leading and training congregations and denominations on how to connect students and young adults to the local church. Andy performs his duties with Fuller Youth Institute as a remote employee working from his home in Salisbury, N.C.
It is the Personnel Committee’s recommendation that Dr. Jung become a part of our staff as “Minister in Residence for Young Adults.” Andy’s role will be part time but of utmost importance as we seek to connect young adults in our community to Christ and to our church. Andy’s primary purpose will be to organize this ministry and to come alongside our ministers, teachers, volunteers, and leaders to enable us as a church to create a church culture that welcomes, encourages, and enables young adults in ministry and participation in the Kingdom of God.
It is our vision that Dr. Jung’s particular gifts, knowledge and training will be a resource to us as a congregation on an ongoing basis. It is our hope that Dr. Jung’s continued work with Fuller Youth Institute will provide Trinity with fresh information and training in regard to reaching young adults and others in a changing culture.
