Trinity Build Days

On Saturday July 12, Randy, Jen Hall and I had the opportunity to serve at a Habitat Build. Lots of other volunteers gave of their time including future homeowners earning their sweat equity hours and some NC State athletes. Habitat for Humanity is a valuable organization who helps people acquire affordable housing.

I’ve volunteered with them many times before but this was my first time at the Old Poole Road location. This location has many houses – it was encouraging to see an entire neighborhood of Habitat houses. We sweated a bit in the morning during our safety briefing; but we were fortunate and got to work inside! Randy and I learned how to install blinds and were successful in doing so in the first house. Randy, Jen and I worked hard in cleaning our second house to prepare it for the homeowner.

The time working at Habitat was a Saturday well spent; but my “God moment” was not at the site. After lunch Randy and I took the leftover food to the Helen Wright Center, a women’s center for ladies experiencing homelessness. The lady who greeted us told us that she had already told the ladies that there would be no lunch due to not having enough money. She exclaimed, “Isn’t that just like God?” We heartily agreed! Our hearts were so warmed at the thought of the ladies now having a meal. God is in all the details of our lives. We always think we’re blessing the ones we help but really we’re the ones who receive the greatest blessing
