What follows is a reflection on the mission experience at Truett Camp and Conference Center June 28-July 4 where a team from Trinity was responsible for meal preparation, serving, and clean-up for youth camp.
The week of June 29th, a team went to Truett Camp in Hayesville, NC. The camp’s summer theme “All In” became more than just a motto—it was a lived experience that resonated deeply across campers and staff alike. We saw transformation in real time with one of the staff interns in the kitchen. Josh, whose openness and shifting heart reminded us that God often places us in moments of ministry not only for others, but for our own growth. Being “All In” means full surrender—releasing control and trusting that God’s plans are greater than our own. It’s choosing to ask, “Lord, where do You want me to go? What do You want me to do? Or are You asking me to be still?” It’s a call to listen to that still small voice, and to recognize that even in our distraction or disobedience, God patiently waits for our attention.
Faith isn’t a solo journey—it’s meant to be walked in community. During the week, we saw that truth in action as campers and staff supported each other, shared deeply, and pursued God’s Word with intentionality—writing notes, marking pages, and showing a true hunger to grow. There were sacred “God Moments” where heaven touched earth in simple, powerful ways: the intentional sunset-viewing at Chatuge Lake, reminding us of Psalm 34:8, “Taste and see that the Lord is good”; Timothy’s shirt-signing on the last morning—a tender moment of connection and memory; Lisa’s conversation with the owner of the Funny Farm Thrift Store, which unexpectedly rippled all the way to another group who stopped by; and even the tilt skillet shorting out—a disruption that became a reminder of flexibility, trust, and the power of teamwork. This was a week of growth, connection, and unmistakable glimpses of God’s presence.
