Dr. Jeff Roberts
Senior Pastor
I returned to Trinity as Senior Pastor in 2000, after having previously served as the Minister to Youth and Singles from 1986 to 1990. It’s been a joy to come full circle and continue serving a congregation that has meant so much to me and my family.
I’m a native of Knoxville, Tennessee, and a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving churches in Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
I’m married to Robin, and we have two adult children and five wonderful grandchildren who bring a lot of joy and energy to our lives. In ministry, I find the greatest joy in spending time with others, walking alongside people in their journeys, and sharing life together as a church family. I count it a privilege to serve as Pastor at Trinity, and my time with this congregation continues to shape and inform my preaching and leadership.
Throughout my ministry, I’ve served on various denominational councils and committees with the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina and the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of North Carolina. I’m currently serving as a Trustee at Campbell University.
A verse that continues to encourage and challenge me is Philippians 1:6: “Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Outside of ministry, I enjoy playing golf, traveling, and spending time with my grandkids.
Rev. Steve Byers
Associate Pastor, Music & Worship
Rev. Steve Byers came to Trinity in 2008 and has served in full-time ministry for over 35 years. He is originally from Buena Vista, Virginia, and has ministered full-time in 4 churches through music and youth ministry in Kentucky, Virginia, and North Carolina. He was ordained into the gospel ministry in 1990 at Bethel Baptist Church, Salem, Virginia.
Steve is a cum laude graduate from James Madison University where he received his Bachelor of Music Education in Instrumental Music with a minor in Voice. While in college, he played in the marching band, symphony, concert band as well as other instrumental and vocal ensembles. He had the distinction of playing in the All-American Marching Band in 1994. He served as Music Director at his home church in Buena Vista for 3 years while in college.
Rev. Byers received his Master of Church Music degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where he pursued vocal and choral music concentrations. He has participated in Virginia and North Carolina Baptist life, singing and playing in the NC Baptist Singers and Orchestra as well as completing the Young Leaders Program of The Center for Congregational Health in 2000. Steve has sung in a men’s quartet, traveled to Brazil, Peru, Chicago, Miami, TN, AL & KY in music missions and has served as a special guest musician at conferences, revivals and community events. In 2013, the Trinity Sanctuary Choir performed with area choirs at Carnegie Hall in New York City. He sings in the Northeast Piedmont Chorale and is a church host to the group twice a year.
Rev. Byers is married to his wife, Amy, whom he married in 1991. She is a Music Specialist in the Wake County Schools and has taught in Randolph and Stanly counties. The Byers have one daughter, Hannah, who was born in South Korea, and is a Campbell University student.
Steve enjoys spending time with his family as a husband and dad, traveling, swimming, tennis, and musical drama.
Rev. Karen Metcalf Eickhoff
Associate Pastor, Education & Discipleship
I’ve had the joy of serving on staff at Trinity Baptist Church since 1993. I was born in Roxboro, North Carolina, and grew up in Elizabethton, Tennessee; Columbia, South Carolina; and Knoxville, Tennessee.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree from Carson-Newman College with a focus in Elementary Education, Special Education, and Early Childhood. I began my career teaching Special Education in the Knox County School System before sensing God’s call to ministry. That calling led me to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary, where I graduated in 1987.
Before coming to Trinity, I served at Spring Hope Baptist Church in Spring Hope, North Carolina, and First Baptist Church of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Over the years, I’ve led conferences throughout the Southeast and Oklahoma on faith development, preschool and children’s ministry, Sunday School, and child development. I’ve also served as a state special worker for both the Oklahoma Baptist Convention and the Baptist State Convention of North Carolina, taught adjunctively at Campbell University Divinity School, and contributed to CBF Global Missions curriculum as a writer.
I’m deeply involved with the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship on both the state and national levels. I’ve served on CBF North Carolina’s Faith Development Ministry Council and Nominating Committee, and I’ve been active in Baptist Women in Ministry, North Carolina—serving as convener in 2007. In 2009, I was honored to receive the Jack Naish Distinguished Christian Educator Award for ministry and leadership, and in 2021, I received the Anne Thomas Neil Award from BWIM, NC for advancing the cause of women in ministry.
I first came to Trinity as the Minister for Childhood Education, overseeing preschool and children’s programming along with the Weekday Preschool Ministry. In 2012–2013, I transitioned into a broader role that includes both adult and childhood education and discipleship. In 2018, I was honored with the Trinity Baptist Heritage Award in celebration of my ministry here. Today, I continue to serve in Adult Education and Discipleship and support the Weekday Preschool Ministry.
I’m married to Bruce, and we love spending time together watching movies, traveling, enjoying church life, and cheering on our favorite sports teams.
Rev. Spencer Good
Associate Pastor, Administration
I currently serve as Associate Pastor of Administration at Trinity Baptist Church, where I help support the church’s ministries by overseeing the day-to-day operations and working closely with staff, committees, and lay leaders. My goal is to create a strong foundation behind the scenes so that our ministries can thrive and our congregation can grow in faith and fellowship.
God called me into ministry through a deepening desire to serve others and to be part of the church’s mission in a meaningful way. While I began my professional journey studying Exercise and Sports Science at East Carolina University, God used my passion for teaching, coaching, and mentoring to guide me toward divinity school at Campbell University, where I earned my Master of Divinity with languages in 2003. Trinity Baptist Church ordained me into gospel ministry in 2006, affirming God’s call on my life to serve His church.
It brings me joy to support and equip others in their callings. Whether it’s helping ministries run more smoothly, mentoring staff, or solving challenges with creativity and teamwork, I find joy in contributing to a church where people genuinely care about one another and seek to follow Christ together.
I’ve been part of the Trinity family since May 2005 and have served in ministry for over 25 years. Before coming to Trinity, I served in youth and family ministry roles in several churches across North Carolina, including Viewmont Baptist in Hickory, First Baptist in Jacksonville, and Lafayette Baptist in Fayetteville.
Outside of church, I love spending time with my wife, Krystal, and our son, Bodey. I stay active through hobbies like martial arts, weightlifting, playing guitar, surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking and dabbling in technology staying current to the trends.
Dr. Randy McKinney
Associate Pastor, Missions and Senior Adults
I serve as the Associate Pastor for Missions and Senior Adults here at Trinity. In this role, I help connect our congregation to both local and global mission opportunities while walking alongside our senior adults in discipleship, care, and service. It’s a joy to be back at the church where I was baptized, called into ministry, licensed to preach, and first given the opportunity to serve.
God’s call on my life has always been deeply tied to this church. I grew up at Trinity, and the people here played a significant role in shaping my faith. While I’ve served in a number of ministry settings over the years, being called back to Trinity feels like coming home. Helping others grow in Christlikeness has always been central to my ministry, and I’m grateful to continue that work here.
One of the things that brings me the most joy is helping people discover how their gifts can be used to serve others, whether that’s across the street or around the world. I also love spending time with our senior adults. Their wisdom, faith, and love for the church are a gift to everyone around them.
I joined the Trinity staff in October 2024, but I’ve been in ministry for over 30 years. Before this role, I served as pastor or staff member at churches in Raleigh, Greenville, Winston-Salem, Fayetteville, and Albemarle.
Outside of ministry, I enjoy spending time with my family. My wife, Karen, is an elementary school teacher, and we have two grown daughters, Addison and Peyton. I love to travel, watch movies, read, binge TV series, and cheer for NC State and the Green Bay Packers.
Dr. Andy Jung
Minister in Residence, Young Adults
I serve as the Minister in Residence for Young Adults, helping young adults find their place of belonging at Trinity while equipping the church to connect with them more meaningfully. My role is all about building bridges between young adults and the rest of the congregation, to bring them together in ways that foster empathy, understanding, and shared faith.
My sense of call is clear: I am driven to bring the Church and young people together. That lens shapes everything I do. I love young adults and all they offer the body of Christ, we have so much to learn from them if we’ll simply take the time to listen. Whether it’s over a shared meal or in small gatherings, being in community with young adults gives me deep joy and real hope for the Church. I’ve served in ministry for over 30 years, including 13 years here at Trinity.
Outside of church, you’ll likely find me playing golf or spending time with friends.
Rev. Taylor Miskel
Associate Pastor, Student Ministry
I’m originally from College Station, Texas, and a graduate of Texas A&M University. I’ve always been passionate about adventure, creativity, and the spiritual development of people at every stage of life. I love creating meaningful experiences that help others connect more deeply with God and with one another. That calling has led me to serve in ministry across North Carolina, Colorado, Texas, and the Dominican Republic.
I first sensed God calling me into ministry during college, which eventually led me to pursue a Master of Divinity with a focus in Chaplaincy from Denver Seminary. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a Chaplain at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill through their CPE Residency program and to serve in three different congregations in student ministry, worship leadership, and pastoral care before coming to Trinity.
I married my husband, Matt, in 2017. He’s a middle school science teacher and football coach, and we welcomed our son, Emmett, in 2023. As a family, we love spending time outdoors, traveling, and finding new trails to explore.
Outside of ministry, I enjoy rock climbing, photography, floral design, painting, kayaking, hiking, and playing volleyball.
Katie Blackmon
Associate Pastor, Preschool & Children
I serve as the Associate Pastor to Preschoolers and Children, helping kids grow in their love and understanding of God while learning what it means to be His disciple. I pray that our church is not only a place where children feel known and loved, but also where parents can find resources, encouragement, and support as they raise their families in faith.
I’ve always loved working with children. I first sensed a call to full-time ministry while serving with an urban ministry called Mission Waco in Waco, Texas. God opened doors as I was beginning seminary, and I fell in love with working and serving within the local church.
There’s so much joy in this ministry. I love helping children build relationships, learn the wonderful story of Jesus, and choose to be a lifelong disciple. I’ve been serving at Trinity for nearly ten years and have been in ministry for a total of twelve. Outside of church, I love spending time with my husband, Lee, and our son. We enjoy being outdoors, especially in the fall, playing sports, and spending lots of time playing cars!
Drew Langdon
Student Ministry Resident
As the Student Ministry Resident, I have the privilege of serving our middle and high school students. My role is to walk alongside them, building relationships and providing them with the tools they need to grow in their faith. I believe deeply in the value of community, and it is my joy to help our youth build strong, faith-centered relationships with each other and with those in their community.
My call to ministry came from a passion for seeing these relationships flourish. I was drawn to this vocation because I truly value the connections I built within the church and I hope to encourage the next generation to form those same bonds. What brings me the most joy in my ministry is the opportunity to work alongside our students and amazing adult leaders. Whether we’re in our weekly programs or serving together on a mission trip, it is truly special to see how God is at work in the lives of our youth group.
My journey at Trinity began in the spring of 2022. Since then, I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to serve as an intern, step into an interim role, and now work alongside Taylor on the student ministry team. Outside of church, you can often find me on the golf course or the disc golf course. I also enjoy going to the movies and spending time with my family, including my older brother.
Laury Holley
Recreation Outreach Director
I serve as the Recreation Outreach Center Director at Trinity, where I help provide recreation programs that serve both our church family and the broader community—from grade school students to adults. My goal is to create spaces where people can connect, move, and grow in both faith and friendship.
Looking back, I believe God first began nudging me toward this role over 20 years ago when we launched our Upward Basketball ministry. I felt called to be the first director of that program in 2004, and that journey in recreation ministry has continued ever since. I served as a volunteer for many years, and when the opportunity came to formally step into the role of Recreation Director, it felt like a natural next step.
One of the greatest joys in this ministry is building relationships—both with Trinity members and with people in our community. Getting to know people through sports, wellness, and shared activities has been such a meaningful and fun part of my calling.
I’ve been part of Trinity for six decades, and have served in recreation ministry here for the past 21 years. Outside of church, I teach water exercise classes through the City of Raleigh’s Aquatics Program. I’ve seen firsthand how healing and restorative water can be for the body and mind. I also love spending time outdoors—at the beach, on a lake, hiking, or biking just for fun.
Suzanne Holleman
Weekday Preschool Director
I serve as the Trinity Baptist Weekday Preschool Director, where I have the wonderful opportunity to show God’s love each day to the children and staff. Through my role, I strive to create a nurturing environment and invite families to connect more deeply with Trinity Baptist Church.
My calling into this career began during my college years, where I developed a passion for understanding how children learn and grow. That eagerness still fuels my work, as I cherish witnessing children master new skills—especially when they’re having fun in the process.
I joined Trinity Weekday Preschool in August 2024, and every day since has brought new joys. Outside of church and ministry, I treasure spending time with family and friends, and I love both water and snow skiing whenever the opportunity arises.
Jan Brown
Financial Administrator
I serve as the Financial Administrator at Trinity, handling all aspects of the church’s finances, from accounts payable and contributions to payroll, taxes, and the columbarium. I’ve always loved math and working with numbers, and with a grandfather and uncle who were Lutheran pastors, serving in a church setting feels like it’s in my blood.
This role has been the perfect fit for me. I genuinely enjoy working with both numbers and computers, and I’m grateful to be part of a congregation that’s active, engaged, and easy to work with. I’ve been serving at Trinity for 28 years, and it’s been a blessing to grow alongside this community.
Outside of church, I’ve been married for 33 years and have two adult sons, one of whom is married. We have two dogs and love spending our vacations at Emerald Isle.
Debbie Argento
Pastoral Administrative Assistant
I serve as the Pastoral Secretary at Trinity, supporting the Senior Pastor, the Minister of Missions and Senior Adults, and the Minister of Music. After leaving a job I held for over 15 years, I spent a lot of time in prayer and felt clearly led to this church.
One of the greatest joys of my role is being able to help our parishioners with whatever they need—it truly gives me great pleasure to serve this wonderful church family. I’ve been part of the Trinity staff for nearly four years.
Outside of work, I love spending time with my three children and their families, going on cruises, and relaxing at home with my cat.
Bonnie Cole
Ministerial Secretary
I serve as a ministerial secretary at Trinity, primarily supporting children’s ministries and adult Sunday School. After working in the retail sector for a time, I felt called to return to nonprofit and church work, hoping to be part of something that makes the world a little better.
One of the highlights of my role is getting to chat with and help members of the congregation when they stop by the office. I also really enjoy the collaborative and supportive atmosphere among the staff.
Outside of Trinity, I’m active in my own church community. In my free time, I enjoy long-distance cycling, crafting, and curling up with a good book.
Sierra Mugg
Communications Director
I serve as the Communications Director at Trinity, where I help make sure everything we share (whether online, in print, or in person) reflects who we are as a church and invites people to feel connected. My work includes designing graphics, managing our social media and website, sending newsletters, and collaborating with ministry teams to share updates, events, and resources clearly and creatively. Whether I’m filming a video, building a webpage, or formatting a newsletter, my goal is to help people feel informed, welcomed, and engaged.
My path into church communications wasn’t traditional. I originally studied songwriting in college, but after attending a conference that opened my eyes to the realities of human trafficking, I felt God leading me in a new direction. I realized that the stories we tell have power, to educate, to encourage, and to inspire action. That calling eventually led me to graphic design where I have been blessed to be able to support ministries by helping their messages shine.
What brings me joy in this role is knowing that even behind the scenes, I’m helping people take a step closer to Christ. I love making vision visual, and I find joy in those small but meaningful moments such as a newsletter that connects someone to a ministry, a post that prompts a visit, or a video that makes someone feel seen. I’m especially passionate about creating strategies that help us communicate with clarity across generations.
Though I’m still relatively new to Trinity, I’ve grown to love this church and its people. I’ve worked with churches and nonprofits throughout my life, and I’m grateful to now be using my skills to serve here.
Outside of work, you’ll usually find me writing, playing music on my piano or guitar, reading, running, walking my dog Lyric, or adventuring somewhere new. I love board games, travel, and anything creative. I love making new memories with the people I love and getting to take photos of new experiences and new memories.
