Kimberly Peoples Kasai, 64, of Raleigh, North Carolina, passed away on June 19, 2026.

Born on April 6, 1962, in South Hill, Virginia, Kimberly (Kim, Kimmie) was raised in Raleigh, where she built a life grounded in family, kindness, and quiet strength. She graduated from Millbrook High School and later attended William Peace College.

Kim enjoyed a long and dedicated career in the banking and mortgage industry, where she was admired for her professionalism, integrity, and genuine care for the people she served. She created relationships everywhere she worked and continued to cultivate them through the years. She was also a child of God who loved to worship Him wherever she could.

Family was at the center of Kim’s life. She was the beloved daughter of Kerney A. Peoples and the late Virginia Mize Peoples, and the stepdaughter of Beverly Peoples. She is also survived by her brother, Mike Peoples. Kim was first married to Vernon Sweat, with whom she shared two daughters, her greatest pride and joy, Megan Rogan and Paige Miles.

Later in life, Kim found love and companionship again with her husband, Kevin Kasai. She embraced his two sons, Brent and Christian, welcoming them fully into her heart and home.

Kim is survived by her father and stepmother, Kerney and Beverly Peoples of Raleigh, NC; her brother, Mike Peoples of Zebulon, NC; her daughters, Megan Rogan (Andrew) of Fuquay-Varina, NC and Paige Miles (JW) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; and her grandchildren, Colton, Jameson, Dawson, and Savannah. She is also survived by her husband, Kevin Kasai; her beloved hound, Elle`; her stepsons, Brent (Dannelle) of Ball Ground, GA; and Christian (Katie) of Greenville, SC; her mother-in-law, Jane M. Kasai of Greensboro; and her sister-in-law, Lynn Hunt (Blake) of Greensboro.

Kim will be remembered for her warm heart, steady encouragement, and her remarkable ability to make others feel heard and valued. Her legacy of love, resilience, and compassion lives on through her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Cornette (Pudge) Kohr Nettles passed away peacefully on February 9, 2026 at Brookridge Life Plan Community in Winston-Salem, NC. She was born on October 5, 1937 in York, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Roy & Berler Kohr.

"Pudge", as she was affectionally known, was a loving mother, sister, wife, grandmother/Lola, and great grandmother. She was a devoted follower of Jesus and had a servant's heart and spent her life serving others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, George (Doc).

She is survived by her brother, Roy Kohr (Elsa); sons, George Jr. (Janet), Britt (Cris), Troy (Catherine), and Seth Nettles (Rebecca); seven grandchildren, including LeAnn Sackenheim (Wes), and David (Traci), Merritt (Risa), Trey (Destiny), Simone, Carr, and Claire Nettles; and four great-grandchildren, Joseph & George Sackenheim and Elowyn & Lorien Nettles.

Pudge graduated from William Penn High School in York, PA in 1955. She was crowned Miss Greater York in 1956. She went on to compete in the Miss Pennsylvania Pageant. Pudge had a modeling career and worked as the manager of Wiest's Portrait studio. She met and married George, the love of her life in 1958.

Upon George's completion of medical school and additional training in GA, DE and WV they settled in Lumberton, North Carolina where they raised their four boys. As members of the First Baptist Church of Lumberton, Pudge was very active. She was on the committee that formed the churches first daycare. She served as the WMU president and was on the pastor search committee along with numerous other committees over the years.

After "Doc" retired they moved to Fayetteville, NC where they became members of Snyder Memorial Baptist Church. Pudge made an impact in Lumberton but her biggest impact was yet to come. She had been involved with Samaritan's Purse, Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes for a few years. She became the Regional Coordinator for Operation Christmas Child and served in that role for over a decade. Every year they exceeded their goal. Her efforts and dedication to Operation Christmas Child impacted hundreds of thousands of children around the world.

Later in life they moved to Raleigh, NC to be closer to their children and became members of Trinity Baptist Church. They both became active in their Sunday School and other areas of service.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 am on Saturday February 21, 2026 at Trinity Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC. Visitation will at 10 am.

Walter McMelon Campbell, 85, passed away Monday, January 5, 2026, in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Born August 28, 1940, in Rome, Georgia, Walter was the son of the late Roy and Margaret Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Levon and Ronnie Campbell, and his eldest daughter, Kathy, who passed away in 2021.

After graduating from high school, Walter proudly served four years in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he began a long and dedicated career with IBM, where he worked for 40 years in Burlington and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Nell Campbell; his daughter, Kimberly Skiba (David); his son, Stephen Campbell (Kerri); one grandson; three granddaughters; and his sister, Martha Haughton (Fergie) of Rome, Georgia.

Walter loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, camping, and water skiing. He found great joy in teaching many young people to water ski each summer. In retirement, he fulfilled his love of travel by purchasing an RV and logging over 92,000 miles, visiting every state, including Alaska. He also devoted his time to Trinity Baptist Men's Disaster Relief and volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

Walter's presence will be greatly missed by his family and friends whose lives he touched.

Patricia Robbins Nelson, a woman of unwavering faith, tireless service, and a heart that welcomed everyone she met with genuine warmth, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025.

Born on July 25, 1940, in Rock Hill, South Carolina, Patricia was the daughter of the late Walter Fitzgerald Robbins Jr. and Emma Hearn Robbins. She grew up in Hamlet, North Carolina, where she developed the grit and grace that would define her long and impactful life. In 1962, she married the love of her life, Ralph Aldrich Nelson, with whom she shared many wonderful years before his passing in 2002.

Patricia's calling was found in caring for others. After graduating from REX Nursing School, she embarked on a remarkable career as a Registered Nurse that spanned over six decades. For thirty-five of those years, she was the steady right hand of Dr. Isaac Manly at Raleigh Surgical Associates. She later served as the OR Charge Nurse at Rex Hospital, where her leadership and compassion guided countless patients and colleagues through their most vulnerable moments.

Outside of the hospital, Patricia's hands were rarely still. She was a dedicated member of the Wake County Wildlife Club Women's Auxiliary and was a familiar, friendly face volunteering every year at the Dixie Deer Classic. Her deepest devotion, however, was to her Lord and her church families at Temple and then Trinity Baptist. Patricia lived her faith through action. Whether she was welcoming visitors as a greeter at the Recreational Outreach Center (ROC), organizing readers for the preschool, teaching her Sunday School class, or beautifying the sanctuary on the flower committee, she served with joy. She was also instrumental in the Healing Hands of Faith and Comfort Companion programs, providing support to others in their time of need-a testament to her innate empathy.

To know Patricia was to understand the true meaning of a servant's heart. Her love was an active force-found in the hand-written cards she sent, the meals she cooked, and the tireless hours she spent ensuring no one in her family, community, or church felt forgotten. Patricia found happiness in the simple yet beautiful things: a deep dive into a good book or spending time at the beach with friends. She was a master of country cooking and a spirited fan of the NC State Wolfpack.

Above all, she cherished her family. She is survived by her son, Walter Aldrich Nelson, and his wife, Emily Hubbard Nelson. Her greatest pride and joy were her grandsons, Luke Aldrich Nelson and Grady Wells Nelson, who will carry forward her legacy of kindness, strength, and service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations, in honor of Patricia's lifelong commitment to her faith and community, be made in her name to Trinity Baptist Church or the REX Nursing Excellence Fund.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, with a visitation at 11:00 a.m. and service at noon. Following the service, she will be laid to rest during a graveside service at Montlawn Memorial Park, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh.

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Janet Goss Lloyd of Raleigh, on November 30, 2025, at the age of 90. Janet was born on March 5, 1935, the oldest of seven children born to Robert and Ruth Goss in rural Wake County, North Carolina. She graduated from Garner High School in 1953.

A devoted wife and mother, Janet was known for her radiant smile and love for her church and family, which was her greatest passion. She raised three children and later worked as a Teacher’s Assistant for Wake County schools for 32 years.

Janet enjoyed her church activities twice on Sunday, followed by Wednesday night dinners. Her family will remember her for her love of Jesus and ability to make everyone smile.

Janet was preceded in death by her loving husband, Dallas, of 59 years. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Felton Goss and Bennie Goss.

Janet is survived by her sisters and brother, Judy Keelor (Dave), Jean Young, Reuben Goss (Carolyn), and Sue Hodge (Tommy). She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Lloyd Phillips (Andrew), daughter Barbara Lloyd Walsh (Grady), son, David Lloyd (Donna) and her grandchildren, Liam Phillips, Allison Huurneman (Dave), Daniel Walsh, Carrie Beth Nicklow (Ethan), Timothy Lloyd (Brittany), and Patrick Lloyd and her great-grandchildren, Nora Huurneman and Rhys Lloyd.

We are deeply saddened to share with you the news of the passing of Brenda Posey Avent, 67, on October 14, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with breast cancer. She was a remarkable woman who spread love everywhere, and she will be forever missed. (April 10, 1957 – October 14, 2024)



Born on April 10, 1957, in Kinston, North Carolina, to the late Tom and Lovelace Posey, Brenda was the little sister of Carol and Martin. She attended the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, where she met her first husband, the late Jerry McGuirt. Together, they had two twin boys, Tim and Steve, followed by a daughter, Karen. While in the middle of wrangling three toddlers, she also became a partner at Watts, Scobie, Wakeford & McGuirt.



After Jerry's death, she reconnected with her friend, Roy Avent. They fell in love and married in 1990. She was blessed to gain two sons, Ryan and Andrew. She left her job as a CPA to stay at home and take care of her new family. She was the heart of our family. She was patient. She was loving. And she ran a tight ship and raised five wonderful kids (plus Roy!).



She was a meticulous planner and an exceptional cook. She made sure every holiday, school activity, and church event was perfect. She loved traveling, a really good margarita, a good book, and too many pasta dishes to name.



Becoming a Mimi to 11 grandkids was the joy of her life. She happily retired to start taking care of them when they were babies and she went to every dance recital, sports game and play she could. They all loved to go to Mimi's house where they knew there was always a special treat waiting for them. She made sure they had many special memories with her in Raleigh and at Ocean Isle Beach.

She was a wonderful wife, sister, mom, and the very best Mimi.



She was a dedicated member of Trinity Baptist Church (4815 Six Forks Rd., Raleigh, NC), where her memorial services will be held on October 26. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., followed by the service at 12 p.m. The service can also be viewed online at tbcraleigh.com.



Brenda leaves behind her loving husband, Roy Avent; sons Ryan (Lisa), Tim (Stephanie), Steve (Laura), and Andrew (Angela); daughter, Karen Brumsey (John); and her grandchildren Eleanor & Henry Avent, Abigail & Jack Avent, Madelyn, Emily & Sam Avent, Justus & Caya Avent, and Nora & Sophie Brumsey. She is also survived by her sister Carol ter Wee (Gerard), and nephew Alex ter Wee (Jewelle), and many loving and special cousins, nieces, and nephews.



Brenda was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry McGuirt, her parents, Lovelace and Tom Posey, and her brother, Martin Posey.

Brenda's warmth and generosity touched all aspects of her life and the lives of those around her. She will be forever loved and remembered by all who knew her.

Herman (H.L.) Warren went to his heavenly home into the arms of Jesus on December 23. His wife was by his side at their home. He went peacefully and we know that God received him with the words “well done thy good and faithful servant.” He had fought cancer for three years. (October 26, 1943 - December 23, 2024)

H.L. was born in Wake Forest, NC on October 26, 1943 to the late Herman and Bertie Warren.

He graduated in 1962 from Wake Forest High School. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served his country during the Vietnam war. He served a year in Vietnam. He was stationed at Cu Chi as a supply clerk and obtained the rank of sergeant.

After his discharge from service, he was employed with the City of Raleigh Fire Department. He retired as a Captain in 1998. He loved his job and the people he worked with. He never met a stranger and he was the type of person that everyone loved.

He and his family joined Trinity Baptist Church in 1973 and the members there are truly their church “family.” He served as a greeter, usher, ROC volunteer, and served as chairman of the security committee for over 20 years. He loved his volunteer work there and served on almost all the committees at one time or another.

He was predeceased by his parents, his sister, Annette Shannon and her husband, Bob Shannon. He was also predeceased by Chuck McGraw, brother-in-law.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 60 years, Joyce Warren; his daughter Michele Walker (Jeff); his daughter Lisa Byrd (Mike), and grandchildren, Adam and Anna Grace Evans and Miles Walker who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette McGraw of Gastonia, NC; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Elaine and Butch Garner of Newport, NC, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Elizabeth Wright Warren passed peacefully at home on June 19, 2025. She is survived by her husband Miller Warren, Jr, son Miller III and his wife Sherry, daughter Susan Maiolo and her husband Tommy and grandsons Cody and Spencer. (May 29, 1943 – June 19, 2025)



Liz was born 05/29/1943 in Roanoke Rapids, NC. Soon after sister Catherine was born, her family moved to White Plains, VA. Liz was always a leader throughout life. She was a leader at school and at James Square Baptist Church where she lead the GA’s, lead her Sunday School class and was later a teacher. She attended Brunswick public schools in Lawrenceville, Va and was always an honor student in every grade, was president of her senior class and graduated Salutatorian. She later graduated top of her class at Chowan University.



She came to Raleigh in 1963 and was employed by NC Dept of Education - School Planning. She met Miller Warren, Jr, a student at NC State University and they married on May 27, 1967. Miller III was born June 28, 1968 and Susan came next on May 28, 1971.



Liz was a stay-at-home mom, ran the house and raised the family. After the kids advanced to high school, Liz decided to reenter the work force. Real estate was her calling. She took the real estate course and of course aced it – she was off and running. This part time job developed into 24/7. She loved her office mates and mentored several. She was always number one or number two in her office production, month after month.



After heart ablation, Liz did retire, Nov 2008 and enjoyed the rest of her life until her health deteriorated. She joined her family and friends in Heaven on June 19, 2025.



A visitation for Elizabeth will be held Friday, June 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Trinity Baptist Church, 4815 Six Forks Rd, Raleigh, NC 27609, followed by a celebration of life from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM.
