Dr. Randy McKinney
Associate Pastor, Missions and Senior Adults
Dr. Randy McKinney joined the staff of Trinity Baptist Church on October 28, 2024. Randy is a native of Raleigh, NC, and grew up at Trinity Baptist Church where he was baptized and grew as a follower of Jesus, answered the call to ministry, was licensed to preach, and was given his first opportunity to minister. At Trinity, Randy also met his wife, Karen, who is an elementary school teacher. They have two grown daughters, Addison and Peyton.
Randy is a cum laude graduate of North Carolina State University (1991) where he majored in Textile and Apparel Management. He also holds a Master of Divinity degree with languages from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary (1993) where he served as grader for two professors, and a Doctor of Ministry Degree from the M. Christopher White School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University (2006) where he was awarded for demonstrating excellence in D.Min. work. Randy also participated in the Young Leaders’ Program sponsored by the Center for Congregational Health (2001).
Before coming to Trinity, Randy served as Pastor of Longview Baptist, Raleigh; The Memorial Baptist, Greenville, NC; and Northwest Baptist, Winston-Salem, NC. Prior to the pastorate, Randy served on staff at Northwest Baptist, Winston-Salem, NC; First Baptist, Fayetteville, NC; and North Albemarle Baptist, Albemarle, NC.
Randy has served in a variety of denominational and ministry roles including on the Board of The Monte de Horeb Ministries (Honduras); the Nominating Committee, Annual Planning Committee, and Racial Reconciliation Ministry Team (CBFNC); General Board (BSCNC), as a field supervisor for D. Min. students at Gardner-Webb, and on the Board of the Northeast Raleigh Community Alliance. Randy currently serves as a member of the Interfaith Community Ambassadors for Responsive Engagement (I-CARE) in the Raleigh Police Department.
Randy is passionate about helping others grow in Christlikeness and enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, binging television series, reading, going to the movies, teaching, and supporting the Wolfpack and the Green Bay Packers.
