Family Promise of the Triangle began in 1994 providing church-based emergency shelter and meals to Wake County families experiencing homelessness.
They now have programs in prevention, emergency shelter, post-shelter stabilization, rapid rehousing, traditional housing, and a New Lease on Life. All these programs help to accomplish their mission to end homelessness in the Triangle.
Churches participate in the Family Promise ministry by providing food and sponsoring activities for families in emergency shelter.

Since Hurricane Helene devastated Western NC, I’ve spent 4 weeks working with Baptists On Mission on the recovery and rebuild phase in the area. I’ve been able to experience the progress that God has provided since the storm. In October our team worked to mud out and tear out a home that had one foot of air left as the home was almost completely flooded. The homeowners, an elderly couple, were miraculously saved by a fast water rescue team. Their home is now in the rebuild process.
In December our team did another tear out job on the home of a handicapped individual they are now in the rebuild phase. During that same week, we worked on rebuilding a home. I learned they received their keys and moved back into their home at the beginning of January.
The stories are countless, yet there are still so many tents or tool sheds serving as homes as families affected wait for help. The town of Marion now has a warehouse that houses building supplies ready to go to families’ homes. In January our team was smaller, and I was concerned with what we could accomplish with only 4 members. But God had a plan for us and we were tasked with building an office in this warehouse so that the construction coordinator could reach many more families in a more effective manner. These warehouses are being added to different communities to assist in returning families to their homes.
How can you help this region you might ask? They need US to be the hands and feet of Jesus. They need us to give of our hearts and time. Please join us to help people in need of God’s love.
